Free: African Community Cooking Classes Are Back!

Free Community Cooking Classes at Destiny Are Back!

Cooking for the Culture and the Community

Why we’re bringing back our free African cooking classes this year

Very simply, the team at Destiny African Market is very passionate about African food! This inspired us to share our culinary knowledge with others through FREE community cooking classes (example here).

Through our classes, we celebrate the flavors of the diaspora and ensure that our culinary traditions become a staple in every kitchen. Therefore, our community cooking classes will remain free in 2026. We’ve made these classes free to remove the cost barrier, ensuring everyone in our community can learn to cook healthy, authentic African meals regardless of their budget. Of course, with products from Destiny :)

Destiny African Market’s big picture goal is to elevate African cuisine by breaking down misconceptions, improving accessibility, and expanding its presence in American culture. We believe African food has been underrepresented and often misunderstood in terms of health benefits. Through our work, we create a space where African cuisine is embraced as a healthy, flavorful, and sustainable option. By offering authentic ingredients, education, and community experiences, we hope to reshape public perception, promote cultural pride, and create economic opportunities for the African diaspora.

Over the past 4 years, 200 people have already joined Chef Sola in her cooking classes and demos to learn the art and science of West African cuisine from jollof rice to egusi and ayamase!

This year’s classes are made possible by the incredible support of the Grassroots Fund & Black Owned Brockton.

Community supporting community.
